FULL-STACK AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY

From custom silicon to cloud,
data-driven stewardship for every inch of land.

GeoSense (Ningxia GeoSense Technology Co., Ltd.) builds the entire agricultural-IoT stack in-house — from a self-developed sensor chip to the cloud platform that turns field data into decisions.

Where "build it ourselves" began

In Ningxia's Xixia district, a 2.4-meter smart weather station stands beside a row of grapevines. Using more than ten physical sensors, it computes 60+ environmental parameters relevant to grape growth in real time.

Founder Xinhao (Joe) HU began developing a smart-vineyard system in 2017. The motivation was simple: imported weather stations cost well over 100,000 yuan, yet their data acquisition was still surprisingly primitive. With an engineering background, he couldn't accept that — so he built his own. That decision grew into an entire, self-owned technology chain.

FROM CHIP TO CLOUD

● Chip Layer (in development)
Self-developed SoC, 130nm process, submitted for tapeout
● Sensing Layer
Weather / soil / infrared / imaging / irrigation stations, satellite & UAV remote sensing
● Connectivity Layer
Proprietary IoT gateway — LTE / LoRa / HaLow multi-protocol
● Platform Layer
GEM IoT cloud, predictive analytics, identity, GIS, smart displays, mobile app
● Decision Layer
Irrigation models, disease assessment, maturity & harvest prediction, vintage reports

We are among the very few agricultural-IoT companies in China that build from the chip level up — sensors and gateways already in production, custom silicon in development, a cloud platform and agronomic decision support already serving real wine regions.

The data speaks for itself

In August 2024, Xinhua News Agency ran "Smart Vineyards, Saving Yellow River Water Efficiently," covering precision irrigation in Yinchuan, Ningxia — featuring GeoSense's technology and equipment, with a 30% overall reduction in water use at Yuanshi Vineyard. The report was republished on the State Council website and translated into English, German, Japanese and Spanish.

In 2024, GeoSense received China's first administrative approval for foreign-related meteorological observation from the China Meteorological Administration (after the revised regulations took effect). When Hurun Research Institute published its inaugural China Wineries Top 50 in 2024, 6 of the top 10 were GeoSense clients.

Beyond the vineyard, beyond China

GeoSense deployments cover Ningxia, Shandong, Hebei and Yunnan — major Chinese wine regions — plus a pilot project in the Coonawarra region of Australia. Terroir analysis for wine grapes is among the most demanding applications in precision agriculture; the same chip-to-cloud architecture extends naturally to broadacre crop water-and-fertilizer management, long-term ecological monitoring, tamper-proof carbon-data recording, and unattended data collection in remote areas.

To truly understand a piece of land, you have to start at the most fundamental layer — by designing a chip. Once custom silicon reaches mass production, sensor-node costs drop dramatically, and truly large-scale deployment is only just beginning.
